2024 Swim Meet Schedule
Plan for 7:30 am Warm-up; Meet should begin at 8 am. Generally expect to spend a little more than the first half of your Saturdays to swim and cheer on your teammates.
Swim parents: Don't forget to sign up to volunteer to help out for at least 2 meets as timers and concession volunteers. Our volunteers make the JTAC Swim Team great!
Team Communications:
GroupMe: Be on the lookout for Group Me invitation (free app) for just in time team communications for practices and swim meets. We will still be sending important information by email and asking for swim entries to be in before 6 pm on Wednesdays.

Swim Team Policies
Parent Responsibilities
Tips for 1st time swim team members (and parents) - Preparing for your 1st meet
· Plan for the heat. We cannot be guaranteed a spot out of the sun at meets. Always bring water to drink, sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, an umbrella, etc.
· Plan for the meet to end around 12pm.
· You and your swimmer may leave once they have completed all of their races.
· Bring a chair just in case. Not all pools will allow this, but it is good to have
· Bring a couple of snacks for your swimmer (and you!).
· Don't forget your swimmers’ goggles, towel, and team swimsuit (black or black with red trim). Swim caps are optional.
· The heat sheet will be sent out via GroupMe about 24 hours before the meet. Since trying to figure out when you child swims can be confusing, we recommend printing off the heat sheet and highlighting your child's name. You can even write their Event/Heat/Lane on their arm in Sharpie (if they are old enough to understand it).
· Please help us keep the meet moving along smoothly by ensuring that your swimmer is at team area 10 races prior to their scheduled race. Swimmers that are not where they are supposed to be can and will miss their race. Each swimmer is to report to the team area 10 races prior to their scheduled race. **If your swimmer is not in the appropriate team area at the appropriate time, then they run the risk of missing their event. Volunteers and coaches are no longer going to search for swimmers who are not in the designated team area. **
· Above all, please encourage your swimmer....this is meant to be a fun experience!

New Group “Coaches”
This new volunteer opportunity is for our younger “adults” (aka: teenagers). We will need their service for the meets on Saturdays and the responsibilities are listed below. This is an excellent preparation for those teenagers not yet ready to apply for life-guarding but intends to do so in the near future!
We want at least one to two volunteers assigned to each age group for the entire meet (for example: two volunteers would be assigned the 6 and under boys group).
Responsibilities include:
1. Ensure all swimmers are lined up in the right spot, the right time, & the right order.
2. Encourage swimmers to have fun and do their best!
3. Remind swimmers what stroke they are about to swim
4. Help answer questions from the swimmers.
Example: “Do I touch the wall with two hands for the butterfly?”
